Notice is hereby given that the
Democratic Party of the 3rd Congressional District of Wisconsin
will hold its annual convention on
Saturday, April 2, 2016.
The Pierce County Democratic Party will host the event at:

River Falls, WI 54022,
Registration will take place from 9:30 - 11:00 a.m., with the call to order beginning at 10:30 a.m.
Please consider this opportunity to participate in the Democratic Party governance process. Information about becoming a delegate is outlined below.
Elections will be held for the following positions: Platform & Resolution Committee Alternate
Any member with a current paid membership can be a delegate to the 3rd Congressional District Convention and the Democratic Party of Wisconsin State Convention. Delegates to these two conventions elect officers of these two bodies and help decide what direction our state and national Democratic Party takes in the coming year by approving resolutions, rules, constitutional changes, and bylaw changes.
To be a delegate requires two (2) actions:
1. Contact Chair Al Holle at firstname.lastname@example.org or 715-450-7912 and ask to be placed on the official delegate list he mustsubmit on March 19, 2016
2. All delegates must register and pay the $25 registration fee prior to March 23, 2016. Pay at the door charge is $30.

All resolutions you might want the 3rd Congressional District Convention and the Democratic Party of Wisconsin Convention to consider as part of the Democratic Party Platform must first be submitted and approved by the Executive Committee of the Democratic Party of Chippewa County before March 19, 2016. Resolutions must then be sent to the 3rd CD on March 19, 2016 so they can be reviewed, organized, and presented at the 3rd CD Convention on April 2, 2016. If you have resolutions you would like to submit send them to Al Holle, Chair at email@example.com before Saturday, March 19, 2016.
Each county may submit up to 10 resolutions for consideration. Resolutions submitted to the 3rd CD Convention for consideration by its members must be no more than 100 words and must contain at least one “Whereas” clause and one “Resolved” clause with the Democratic Party of Wisconsin as the resolving body. Do not include the title in the word count.
Repeal The Military Commissions Act 2006 (MCA)
WHEREAS, the U.S. Constitution provides "The privilege of the writ of habeas corpus shall not be suspended...;”
WHEREAS, in September, 2006, the Congress passed the MCA, which denies habeas corpus to individuals labeled "unlawful enemy combatants," whether U.S. citizens or not;
WHEREAS, U.S. citizens can be arrested and detained indefinitely without charge if the President declares them to be "unlawful enemy combatants";
WHEREAS, under the MCA, “enemy combatants” can be tried and executed on the basis of coerced testimony, hearsay and secret classified testimony;
THEREFORE, RESOLVED, the DPW demands the immediate repeal of the Military Commissions Act.
